Dilemas - Revista de Estudos de
Conflito e ControleSocial (Dilemmas: Journal on
Conflict and Social Control) is open to receiving new, original scientific
contributions of articles, reviews and interviews. The social sciences
quarterly (mainly sociology and anthropology) is focused on themes of conflict
and social control such as

- Violence
- Crime
- Morality
- Social Movements and Collective

- Urban Conflicts
- Criminal Justice
- Public Security
- Public and Private Institutions of
Social Control
The contributions must consist of
adequate works to an academic journal and should portray the language and the
protocol suitable to the medium.
Manuscripts should be sent by email,
preferably in MS-Word (papers will be accepted in other well-known text
processors such as WordPerfect), to the address: editor@revistadilemas.com.
All contributions are peer-reviewed,
preserving the identities of both authors and evaluators. Each work will be
submitted to at least two evaluations. All authors will receive copies of the
evaluation reports with comments of the reviewers and, where appropriate, of
the editorial board and/or the editors of the journal.
Dilemas
publishes texts mainly in Portuguese, except when articles were originally
written in Spanish, English or French, in which cases the texts will be
published in the original language, with the abstract in that language, as well
as in Portuguese and English – or in Spanish if the text is already in English.
By submitting a text, the author
simultaneously declares the acceptance to all terms and conditions of the
journal and transfers his copyrights to Dilemas - Revista de Estudos de
Conflito e ControleSocial, being aware that it will have open
access in digital version.
Dilemas
is not responsible for opinions, data and/or concepts presented in its texts;
these are of responsibility only and entirely of their authors.
The editors reserve themselves the
right to make formal changes in the articles in order to ensure clarity and
compliance with the standards of the journal.
Definitions:
Article (paper): a contribution in the
form of an original, unpublished study that reports a new or original research
and/or introduces an original theoretical discussion. More than one author can
sign it.
Interview: a contribution in the form
of the transcript of a conversation, presented in questions and answers
(Q&A) format, with a figure of interest to the theme of Dilemas -
Revista de Estudos de Conflito e ControleSocial. More than one
author can sign interviews.
Review: contribution in the form of an
analytical and/or opinionative text about a work recently published in the
subject area concerning the journal. Only one author can sign it.
Rules for submission of contributions
Submissions must meet the following
formal criteria:
General patterns:
Cover:
all submissions must be accompanied by a cover sheet, bringing an abstract of
650 characters (including spaces), five keywords and a brief summary of the
curriculum of the author, detailing his training, institutional affiliation,
and contact details (full name, address, phone and email).
Quotes:
must be presented between quotes along the text if it’s no longer than three
lines. Otherwise, it should be placed as a separate paragraph, with 10 (ten) pt
and a line space before and after it, with an indentation of 1 (one) cm to the
left and single spacing.
References:
in the text, references must be presented in parentheses in the following
pattern: (AUTHOR’s SURNAME, year, p. Page number), as in: (WEBER, 2004, p.
117). If the pages make a sequence, use "pp.", followed by start-end
page, like this: (BECKER, 2008, pp. 256-258).

Figures: may
be embedded in the article but must also be sent in separate files, preferably
in JPEG format (300 dpi resolution). If you use graphs and/or tables, they must
be accompanied by the image files they correspond to and, if possible, by the
spreadsheets from which they were originated.
Specific standards:
Articles:
twenty (20) to thirty (30) pages, typed in Times New Roman, 12 (twelve) pts and
1.5 line spacing (one and a half). Footnotes should be limited to three per
page and contain only comments are strictly necessary to the article.
Reviews:
5 (five) to 10 (ten) pages, typed in Times New Roman, 12 (twelve) pts, line
spacing 1.5 (one and a half). Footnotes should be limited to three per page and
contain only comments that are strictly necessary to the text. The opening of
the text should bring the bibliographic reference on the work reviewed.
Interviews:
up to 20 (twenty) pages, typed in Times New Roman, 12 (twelve) pts, line
spacing 1.5 (one and a half). The interview should be submitted in the
"Q&A" (questions and answers) format and be preceded by an
introductory explanatory note of up to one page (included in the total limit),
presenting the interviewed.
